Don't Forget to Vote! Women's Health Research--a Bipartisan Issue.
Have you voted yet today? If not, go! That may be the most important thing
you do for your long-term health today. With us to explain why is Mary Wooley,
President of the national advocacy group, Research!America.
"We are fortunate to live in an era of enormous possibility
in medical and health research. We will soon find cures for AIDS, cancer, diabetes,
and Alzheimer's. It's time to make medical and health research a much higher
national priority. Americans should be asking their elected officials, "What
are we waiting for?" Let's double the budget for the National Institutes of
Health.
How much of our budget is currently dedicated to medical research?
"Less than 1% of our national budget is spent on medical
and health research. Recent surveys conducted by Research!America show that
Americans show very strong support for changing this fact, and making medical
and health research a much higher national priority."
Your role in this effort can begin at the polls today, but it doesn't have
to end there. For more information, go to www.researchamerica.org.
