Dr. Donnica To Speak At Free Women’s Health Event in Morristown NJ
MORRISTOWN, NJ April 29, 2009 – One of the most common questions Dr. Donnica fields from women across the country is how to find a good doctor. The answer, for many New Jersey women, can be found at Morristown Memorial Hospital on May 14, 2009, when Dr. Donnica will discuss the important questions every woman should ask her doctor. Her talk will be followed by a question and answer session with five hospital physicians. This free event, held in the Malcolm Forbes Amphitheatre from 10:30am to 12pm, is presented by the Women’s Health Philanthropy Council of Morristown Memorial Health Foundation.
“I’m especially pleased to team up with the physicians at Morristown Memorial for this presentation – women will be able to see and hear from several of the best women’s health care physicians in our area,” says Dr. Donnica, who has appeared on over 500 television programs, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “The View.” Her talk will highlight tests every woman should have, preventive strategies for a healthier life and topics such as hot flashes, hormone replacement therapy and perimenopause.
The physician panel includes Patrick Culligan, MD, urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery specialist; Marie Nevin, MD, endocrinologist-osteoporosis specialist; Audrey I. Prefer, MD, perimenopause and menopause practitioner; Daniel Tobias, MD, women-specific cancers and genetic screenings expert and Ogei Yar, MD, women’s heart health specialist.
Following the lecture, Dr. Donnica will sign copies of her newly released book, Women’s Health for Life (DK 2009), which she edited. Team written with 13 other nationally recognized female physicians, the compilation provides a medical resource on women’s health issues. “It’s designed to be as easy to use as a cookbook, with numerous illustrations, photographs, charts and tips,” says Dr. Donnica. Books will also be available to purchase after the lecture.
A graduate of Princeton University and SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine, Dr. Donnica is the founder and president of Sapphire Women’s Health Group and DrDonnica.com. Seating for the event is limited and pre-registration is required. Please contact Sandy Ortolani at 973-593-2431 or sandra.ortolani@atlantichealth.org to register.
“Women will have the opportunity to hear an expert on women’s health share her knowledge and meet the top doctors of Morristown Memorial,” says Janet M. Simon, co-chair of the Women’s Health Philanthropy Council. “Women can find out how to get help for a pre-existing condition and learn about ways to prevent health problems.” The aim of the council, she adds, is to educate community women on the premiere health care services that Morristown Memorial offers and to raise funds for hospital programs. Priorities of the council include raising money for new equipment at the Women’s Clinic and for a second da Vinci® Surgical System to meet the growing demand for robotic surgery at the hospital. To date, the council has received pledges totaling $55,000 for clinic equipment and $310,000 toward the robotic device.
“The Women’s Health Philanthropy Council has done impressive work,” says Raquel Dardik, MD, council co-chair. “I’m especially impressed by the caliber of women on the council and their dedication to this cause. The contributions will improve the care our patients receive at Morristown Memorial. It’s an investment in the future of our community.”
