Before You Leave:
- Evaluate or treat any bothersome
medical symptoms
- Consider purchasing trip insurance
- Obtain necessary vaccines
When You Pack:
- Pack light
- Use roller suitcases (or porters)
- Store all medicines in carry-on
luggage
- Bring copies of all prescriptions
- Bring your insurance card
- Pack travel medicine kit
On Travel Day:
- Get a good night's sleep the
night before
- Eat a good breakfast
- Pack healthy snacks
- Keep well-hydrated
- Wear comfortable footwear
- Avoid Economy Class Syndrome
- Avoid back strain
- If you need assistance, ask for
it
Once you are there:
- Practice safe behaviors
- Avoid overindulging in food or
alcohol
- Be aware of local food and water
quality
- Exercise at appropriate levels
for your fitness
- Protect the skin you are in
- Avoid overexposure to sun or
cold
- Maintain healthy sleep habits
- Keep well-hydrated
- Practice infection control habits,
including safe sex
- Treat any new symptoms as soon
as they arise
- Seek medical attention if necessary
