Lee National Denim Day
Do you know what actress Lucy Liu will be wearing tomorrow?
Jeans-and so am I. This is to support the 2001 Lee National Denim Day®, the
world's largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer. This event benefits
the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, breast cancer awareness and breast
cancer research. Tomorrow, you can join millions of people who will slip into
their favorite jeans and make a $5 donation to the Komen Foundation. What can
this add up to? Last year alone, Lee National Denim Day raised $7 million for
breast cancer research.
Like Lucy Liu, many women will have a "breast cancer scare" in which they find
a lump that needs to be biopsied which is then joyfully found to be benign.
But of the women whose diagnosis is malignant, 41,000 women will die from breast
cancer this year. Every 3 minutes another woman will be diagnosed with breast
cancer in the United States. But thanks to tremendous advances in both clinical
research and early detection, 97 out of 100 women who are diagnosed with early
breast cancer will be cured. And that's very good news. For more information,
