Did you make it through the first week of the New Year on your healthy diet resolution?  Sometimes you just need the right motivation--not short term goals like fitting into a new outfit, but long-term goals like better health.  Actor Michael Badalucco of the hit TV Show, "The Practice" shares what motivated him to take control of his weight challenges:

"Well, you know what it is. . It's really health reasons.  I'm married, I have wonderful nieces and nephews, I love my job and I want to be healthy and that's why I'm concerned about this.  Health is so important and I think if I can get my weight to a certain level, it'll effect the other things as far as cholesterol, hypertension and stuff like that."

Weight management expert Dr. Louis Arronne agrees: 

"There are many health risks from being overweight.  The biggest one is from diabetes, but there's also a risk of uterine cancer, there are risks of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many, many other medical problems.  About the only thing that doesn't get worse is osteoporosis, which can actually be better in women who are slightly overweight".
