• Half of fourth grade girls in the US have started dieting!
• By late adolescence, up to one out of 100 girls show clinical signs of anorexia.
• In males and females, the average age for the beginning of an eating disorder is 17.
• One out of ten patients with eating disorders are male, even though this is considered a "female problem".
