Risk of Ectopic (Tubal) Pregnancy
Q: I had a tubular pregnancy a few years ago, and I was
told I have a 70% chance of having another. Is that true? And if it is, is there
any way for me to prevent it?
Dr. Donnica: The answer to this question is yes, and yes. Unfortunately,
the best way to prevent tubal pregnancy is to prevent pregnancy! Even tubal
sterilization, however, doesn't prevent tubal pregnancy 100%.
You didn't say if you wanted to get pregnant again or not. The answer to your
question also depends in large part on how your tubal pregnancy was treated
at the time, and how much damage you had to the affected fallopian tube as well
as the other tube.
